
Join the Marple Newtown Players for affordable and fun theatre workshops for kids taught by enthusiastic and experienced theatre artists from the community. Whatever your ability or interest - from behind the scenes to stage performance - this camp has a workshop that is perfect for any child. For those eager to develop hidden talents that may lead to a theatre career, or those who simply want to gain self-confidence and improve communication skills, you can choose from two different weeks or sign up for both! Each workshop provides a well-rounded glimpse into a theatre specialty! Executive Director Sam Barrett runs the camp. She teaches in the Philadelphia school district and has directed and performed in many area theatres. ACTING Acting students will participate in both scene study and monologue work which will be showcased at a staged reading on Friday of each week. PLAYWRITING Campers will analyze the craft of playwriting and begin work on original plays. BONUS PROGRAMMING For each day during each week a visiting theater artist from die greater Philadelphia theater community will lead a question and answer session to discuss their particular area of expertise.
